1. Law and public governance

Specialization

Georg Engeli studied art, philosophy and law in Basel ( Switzerland ) and Muenster ( Germany ), graduating from the Basel university Law School . Following internships with an international Swiss law firm and a court, he sat for the Swiss bar exam.

Subsequently, he specialized (PhD) in constitutional law with a focus on the following aspects:

• Internal security of a democratic society
• Roles and contributions of the different sectors for peaceful social development
• Political, constitutional and social reform
• Social inclusion and participation processes in multi-cultural environments
• Social impact of individual and collective angers and fears
• Emerging forms of resistance, civil disobedience and the use of government / private violence.

Personal note

I was privileged to have professors and teachers - embedded in a school of a long-standing tradition of integral thinking - who would emphasize the philosophical, cultural and social engendering of the Rule of Law throughout history, and thus open our eyes for the ethical dilemmas in law and society. They challenged us not to only acquire a trade but to continuously submit its parameters and techniques to critical scrutiny.
